Lee sun kyun, Oscar winning movie actor dies

According to the Associated Press and the South Korean news agency Yonhap, Lee Sun-kyun, a South Korean actor who appeared in the 2020 Oscar best picture winner “Parasite,” passed away early on Wednesday morning. 48 was his age.

Actor Lee Sun-kyun of South Korea passed away seemingly by suicide. According to AP, he was discovered dead in a vehicle at a park in the middle of Seoul. Lee’s family reported that he left home early on Wednesday and scribbled a suicide note, so police had been searching for him.

According to the police, Lee was discovered dead in a car at a park in the heart of Seoul, and the passenger seat had a charcoal briquette.

Following a tip from Lee’s management that the actor had left home after penning what seemed to be a suicide note, police began searching for the actor.

Police had been looking into him for possible marijuana and other psychotropic substance usage.

Lee was the subject of a police investigation recently because of suspected drug usage. The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency in South Korea had been looking into Lee and seven other individuals for possible drug usage; Lee claimed to have been extorted hundreds of thousands of dollars by someone who was also under investigation and had been the victim of blackmail. Yonhap reports that Lee was questioned by police three times, most recently on Saturday, over his suspected use of marijuana and other narcotics at a high-end bar hostess’ house in Seoul earlier this year. He said that he was duped and was unaware of what he was taking.

The note wrote

“I sincerely apologise for causing great disappointment to many people by being involved in such an unpleasant incident,” he said at the time, adding, “I feel sorry for my family, which is enduring such difficult pain at this moment.

Lee was a well-known character in Korean film. This year in Cannes, he starred in the films “Sleep” and “Project Silence.” The latter, which debuted commercially in September, spent three weeks at the top of the Korean box office rankings.
