Academic Awards
- The Emmy Awards
The Emmy Awards honor distinction in a range of television and new media fields.
Three sibling organizations, each concentrating on a different area of television and broadband programming, oversee the Emmy Awards:
- Primetime Television Academy
- Television Arts & Sciences National Academy (sports, news, documentaries, and daytime)
- International Academy of Arts and Sciences for Television
One indication of peer acclaim from the almost 20,000 members of the Television Academy is the Primetime Emmy Award.
- The Oscar Awards
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents the Oscar Awards, commonly called the Academy Awards, every year to honor those in the film business who have demonstrated artistic and technical excellence. Although the honor was established in 1927, the awards ceremony was not held until 1929.
- The Golden Globe Awards
The Golden Globe Awards are given out in recognition of outstanding work in American and foreign cinema and television. Since 1944, a yearly awards ceremony has been conducted to recognize professionals and artists for their contributions. The presentation, which typically takes place in January, has long been a highlight of the Oscar Awards season in the film business. The Golden Globes eligibility season runs concurrently with the calendar year, from January 1 to December 31.
- The SAG Awards
The SAG Screen Actors Guild Academic Award is awarded to recognize outstanding performances in movies and primetime television. Since then, the SAG Awards have grown to be one of the major celebrations of excellence in the Hollywood film industry, along with the Oscars and Golden Globes. SAG awards honor the individual skills of performers in dramas and comedies as well as the collective efforts of a film’s cast.
